Born in Nuernberg, Wieland Schreiber received his first piano lessons at the age of 6. When he was ten years old he discovered his love for the guitar and taught himself chord accompaniment. Later, he attended clinics for classical guitar and it was there that his extraordinary sense of rhythm was discovered. So he went to take his first drum lessons. Just three months later, he played in a Rock'n Roll trio that again half a year later performed live at the Bavarian Broadcast Co.

The university-entrance diploma in 1982 was followed by studies in Wuerzburg, Stuttgart and Munich. 1983, at a competition of German Conservatories, Wieland Schreiber won the first prize, in 1985 he was awarded with the Promotional Prize of the city of Fuerth. He passed exams as a music teacher and gained a diploma for solo performers. In that time he also conducted choirs and received a diploma from the Bavarian Ministry of Culture and Science as a certified conductor.
In his more than 10 years of teaching he achieved some remarkable successes. Worth mentioning are Frank Jooss, Drummer with Fiddler's Green and HÄMATOM, and Björn Irlinger, famous with OXYMORON and actually playing with US-based Reagan Youth.

Wieland performed with numerous bands and orchestras as a drummer, mallet player and percussionist. He moved effortlessly from Rock to Jazz Rock, Charts, Brass Band, Avant Garde as well as musical, opera and symphonic music. As a substitute he played with the orchestra 'Artists United For Nature', the chamber orchestra Schloss Werneck, the chamber orchestra of Freiburg, the Nuernberg and Munich Symphony orchestras, the Kirov orchestra St. Petersburg (now: Marinskij) and the Bavarian State Opera. He took part in recordings with the Stuttgart State Opera and the orchestra of the SWF broadcast in Kaiserslautern.

As a soloist, just a few stations made Wieland's international orientation clear: Concert tours have led him e.g. to Budapest, Moscow, St. Petersburg (where in 1990 a concert was recorded by Petersburg TV and repeatedly broadcasted, even nation-wide), Hamburg und Stuttgart. He took part in international music festivals in Frankfurt, Kiew, Nashville, and Vilnius.

In 1995, he released his much acclaimed CD "upstroke", including the very first recording of the 'Concerto form Marimba and Orchestra' by Robert Kurka. This work has also repeatedly been performed on a tour in Latvia, with a TV recording in Riga.

Since 1997, Wieland has been a sound engineer at the Bavarian Radio Broadcasting in Munich. After some years of rest, artistic work is again an emphasis in his life. The  re-entry into the world of music is flanked by expert knowledge about technical perfection and manipulation of sound and its suggestive effects. Thus nowadays, new compositions - not only for percussion - come into existence and are produced in his own studio. In 2007 the label around-m was founded. Until today has been released: Gong-Meditation (2007), FREQUENCY5 and connecting by lobman sobman (2008) and Alle Vögel sind schon da, a collection of traditional German children's songs (2014).

For threedecades, Wieland Schreiber regularly plays timpany or percussion at the Frauenkirche Munich. For the sam time he has been the timpanist at the Festival Worships in Churches in and around Munich.

In 2013 he constructed and built a set of tubular bells, with which he has participated in several events, among those services with 'Missa Pax Infantibus' by Karl-Ludwig Niess, a service at Maria Ramersdorf, Munich, one of the most important destinations for pilgrims to the Mother Mary in Southern Germany. Others were the premiere of the oratory “Hymnen an die Nacht” by Dirk-Michael Kirsch in 2014, and the 'Missa Brevis in B flat' by Christopher Tambling.

On May, 5th, 2013, Wieland Schreiber had a short session with Ray Manzarek, the keyboarder from the Doors, and his brother Rick in a hospital South of Munich. This was the last time that Ray played 'Riders on the Storm'. Rest In Peace, Ray.

In 2013 at the European Days of Music in Bad Tölz, Wieland Schreiber performed the percussions in 'In Terra Pax' by Frank Martin. In November, he repeatedly played the timpani in the 'Requiem' by Giuseppe Verdi, e.g. at the Schlosskonzerte Tegernsee. The 'Creation' by Joseph Haydn, the Requiem by Antonin Dvořák, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, Works by Shostakovitch, John Rutter, Arnold Schönberg and the 5th Symphony by Ludwig v. Beethoven were in the repertoire. In May 2015 he took part in a performance on the occassion of the 20th anniversary of the 'Erdzeichen', a 270 by 170 metres sculpture carved into the ground by Wilhelm Holderied and Karl Schlamminger near Munich International Airport (Acutally, if you're lucky, you can see it from your plane). On Easter 2016, after long years, he again played percussion and the marimba in public. In 2017, he could so far be seen as solo timpanist with Dvorak's 'Stabat Mater' and in a concert where he played mallets in  Gershwin's 'An American in Paris' and Poulenc's 'Concert Champêtre'.
For a few years since 2017, the sound engineer Wieland Schreiber has been responsible for recordings with chamber orchestra with his mobile studio.

In the followng years, interesting works have found their way into his repertoire:
Lalo,Edouard: Symphonie Espagnole, Wieland Schreiber spielte die Triangel
Arturo Márquez: Danzon Nr. 2, (Claves und kl. Trommel)
Dmitri Shostakovich: Cellokonzert Nr. 2 (kl. Trommel)
Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakow: Scheherazade (kl. Trommel)
Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy: Elias (Pauke)
Johannes Brahms: Requiem (Pauke)
Sergej Rachmaninov: Paganini-Rhapsody (Piatti)

Corona-madness, as well as with many other artists, dried out musician Wieland Schreiber's jobs almost completely. It is not untill July 2022 that culture gave a call, with three Performances of the 'Carmina Burana' (one in the monastery of Benediktbeuern, where the manuscripts that Carl Orff set to music were discovered) and two concerts including Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorksky. In October 2022 he twice accompanied narrators of the Bavarian Broadcast in a live radio drama as a benefit for needy children. And played the timpani in 'The Creation' by Joseph Haydn just two days later.
Meanwhile, surprisingly, the around-m studio has been pretty busy: Between May 2022 and October 2022, about three dozen broadcasts were produced here plus some 140 audio podcasts with an actor.
